Some Background
I've been a Licensed Massage And Bodywork Therapist since 1991.
My approach involves integrating techniques which effectively puts individuals (people, horses, dogs, cats, even bunnies) on a path to healing themselves.
Increased movement, decreased pain and an overall balancing of body, mind and spirit are some of the merits of my methods.
And just so you know, I don't do spa treatments, nor 'just a relaxing massage'.
I began my massage training in 1991, finding resolution with my own chronic pain issues. I studied with the most reputable healing educators in south Florida who emphasized both the clinical and somatic aspects of healing. I found this approach extremely helpful in balancing my own body and now specialize in creatively integrating intuitive and technical skills, tailoring the most effective elements of my training and experience to the specific needs of each client.
One of few therapists in the area to have trained directly with John Barnes and Walt Fritz, both Physical Therapists and leaders in the field of myofascial release and manual therapies, my abilities to help those who have not previously found benefit from body work have been profoundly enhanced. This is clearly evident in the knowledge and presence I bring to every session and the relief experienced by my many clients.
Since 1991 I've worked closely with chiropractors and other physicians effectively co-treating on auto accident, personal injury and chronic pain cases.
My Contributions on an AMTA Research Team
I was fortunate enough to be a member of the American Massage Therapy Association's research team, working with the Roger C. Peace para-cycling team, contributing to the scientific study of the relationship between massage and athlete's performance and quality of life. I traveled to the national time trial location in Winston-Salem & provided relaxation and recovery to athletes immediately post-race.
Then Came The Horses
In May of 2011 I began volunteering at a rescue sanctuary for abused, neglected, starved and forgotten horses. Once they were restored to good health, we helped them find new homes. I'd pet a horse maybe once or twice in my life, never been riding, and had no clue if I even liked them or if they'd like me. As it turned out, I'm a horse person~ who knew?!

The horses benefit from my years as a bodywork therapist, and my equine training with Jim Masterson and his Method of Integrated Equine Performance Bodywork, ground work by Stacey Carter at Heartcentered Horsemanship, Mary DeBono's DeBono Moves based on her training as a Feldenkrais therapist and Dr. Sandra Howlett of the Upledger Institue, all blending so very well with what I've already been doing.
Dogs, cats, pigs, sheep and a rabbit have also gleaned benefits from my bodywork, and I'm available for pet house calls if you have one in need. Have a llama or alpaca needing some attention? I’m looking for some to learn from.
And just so you know, bodywork can be extremely beneficial, but is never a substitute for veterinary care.
If in doubt about the condition of your animal, please contact your vet.
I've started a blog about my learning curve with the horses:

Maybe you've seen the movie with Robert Redford, or heard the expression "Horse Whisperer." Well, I consider myself more of a horse mumbler, because Sicilians don't whisper, not even to horses.
I now co-teach Yin Horsemanship Clinics with trainer Stacey Carter. We are based in the Piedmont area of central North Carolina but are available to travel to barns outside our area.
